Katherine Heigl admits that she grew up in a white bubble, and how this realization affected the way she raised adopted, multiracial kids. The actress "Firefly Lane" spoke to the media that it did not matter the color of her skin for her. But after having a conversation with her Korean-American adopted sister, she noticed the differences between how others took care of her. "I asked Meg what she thought about being that she was treated differently when going out with us parents than the times she was out by herself. She replied "Oh, yes, every occasion!" Heigl revealed to Parents that she realized how naive she had been. According to the actor, she grew angered. However, she wanted to channel that anger towards helping her adopted girls. Heigl shares a son of 4 years with Josh Kelley, her husband over the last 13 years. They took in Nancy Leigh (age 12) from South Korea and Adalaide (age 8) and is black in 2009.
