Richard B. Cheney is an American public servant, businessman as well as a politician. Cheney is a well-known figure in the Washington political scene, has served under several U.S. presidents George W. Bush is the fourth vice president, and is an elected representative. Bush selected Cheney as his vice presidential running mate in July 2000 citing his expertise and wisdom. Dick Cheney was a chief of staff to presidents. He also served on the United States Congress as Secretary of Defense, and served his country in many roles. Republicans as well as Democrats alike respect Cheney for his sincerity. Cheney stated that he sees his job as a trustworthy yet discreet advisor to the Bush administration. Cheney expressed his excitement at accepting the Republican vice-presidential nominee. Cheney said he is looking forward working alongside a president who will work together with people of differing political opinions and who share shared objectives. Richard Bruce Cheney is the son of Richard Herbert Cheney of the late Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He was born January 30, 1941, within Lincoln Nebraska. When Richard Bruce Cheney was 13 years old, he and his family relocated from Lincoln Nebraska to Casper Wyoming in the state where his father headed his position as the head of U.S. Department of Agriculture's regional conservation districts.
